It’s good to be back!
Last time I posted, we’d moved to Singapore and I was getting ready to blog my way through the country’s incredibly vast food scene. Fast forward two and a half years and a lot has changed:
- My blog journey sputtered badly, producing just a few Instagram posts
- We moved back to Canada after 14 months overseas
- I founded a small sausage-making business
- I shut down the sausage biz, opting for the steady income of a full-time gig
- I now do some food writing and recipe development on the side
Perhaps the most important change is the fact that I started taking cooking classes at George Brown Chef School in Toronto.
“It’s about time!”
Love this. It’s awesome that others see my passion and want me to chase it. My life is all about food, so culinary school is a natural, if late, progression.
“Are you going to open a restaurant?”
I love this response too, but my answer is a firm no. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely want to earn a living playing with food. But the stress of a restaurant kitchen is no place for me and my easygoing personality.
Cooking school is all about going back to the basics for me. I’ve cooked for decades, but I want to nail those foundational skills and techniques that will elevate my cooking. In turn, I want to share the useful stuff with you!
So here I am back to blogging. Stay tuned for recipes, kitchen hacks, recommendations, interviews with cool food folks, and whatever else catches my attention.
If there’s anything you would like to see, leave it in the comments.
